About the Upgrade:
To upgrade the sound system, we had to start from scratch. We removed the 4″ midrange speakers from the dashboard and installed new speaker pods. We also removed the factory A-pillars and fitted in new ones with spaces for new tweeters. We installed the FOCAL FLAX EVO set in the front, which provides high-quality sound and a great listening experience.
To ensure that the sound quality is top-notch, we soundproofed all four doors with STP (StandartPlast Gold), which reduces road noise and improves the overall audio quality. We also used a Basser Amarok MDF FitBox fitted with JL Audio TW3 10″ dual voice coil subwoofer to deliver deep and rich bass that complements the rest of the audio system. Yes, this enclosure fits LC79 too!
For the head unit, we chose the premium wireless CarPlay 10″ Head Unit Kenwood DMX9720XDS, which is designed to be compatible with modern devices and provides high-quality audio. It feeds the 5-channel digital amplifier Hifonics with three pairs of good quality RCAs.
The new system was installed in a way that both the sub box and the amplifier were located neatly behind the rear seats, with no cable laying around. All the components are attached to the vehicle, ready for its rough 4WD rides.
To get the most out of the system, we used our skills in combination with car-audio high-resolution microphone and tuned the system up to its full potential. That involves parts such as pink noise playback through the speakers and adjusting the head unit’s EQ, time alignment, crossover correction, polarity, and phase checks.
The upgraded sound system delivers strong and deep bass, high clarity speaker system, no distortion, great loudness, and custom-tuned sound with center staging. The bass is tight, punchy, and well-defined, and it doesn’t overpower the rest of the audio. The sound quality is crystal clear, with every detail being reproduced accurately. The new tweeters provide crisp highs that complement the rest of the audio.
The wireless CarPlay & Android Auto feature provides a seamless experience that allows the driver to access all their apps and music without having to fiddle with their phone. It’s also an excellent safety feature, as it reduces distractions while driving.
The sound system is now a pleasure to listen to, and it enhances the overall driving experience. It’s an investment that will provide years of enjoyment and satisfaction. The premium installation is a testament to our commitment to quality and our passion for delivering the best sound systems in the market.
