BMW X2 F39 Audio Upgrade | Stealth Subwoofer

BMW X2 F39 | Basic Sound System Upgrade Stage 1

Model: BMW X2 F39 2018 with Basic Sound System

There’s not a whole lot we can say about this car when it first came to us – basically, it was completely lacking bass and did not make for an enjoyable driving experience at all.

Fortunately, the team at Soundtech were able to deliver a simple, yet elegant, solution that incorporated true deep bass to the existing factory setup (without losing boot space, interfering with the car’s electrical system or changing how the interior looks).

Original Setup:

The BMW’s original stereo system included:

    • Basic 3-way speaker system in the front
    • 6.5″ underfloor subwoofers
    • Subwoofers were not filtered out
    • No amplifier
    • No power

The customer was looking for a fairly basic audio system upgrade, as they were unhappy with the lack of bass but didn’t feel the need for a complete overhaul at the time. Other complaints included big gaps in the curve and lack of an amplifier, which were both affecting the quality of the sound being produced.

They got in touch with us here at Soundtech and we were able to offer them a stage-1 BMW X2 stereo upgrade that would improve sound quality without all the bells and whistles.

If you’re new to the world of car audio, this sort of car sound system installation is a great way to test the waters and see if it’s something you’re interested in exploring further. It’s also a great option for a vehicle that you don’t spend a lot of time in but want to enjoy the music-listening experience when you do.

New Setup:

The new car stereo system installed by Soundtech included:

    • 8″ JL Audio vented subwoofer unit
    • New hidden amplifier
    • Utilisation of the car’s fuse comb (factory-like installation)
    • Bass remote control
    • Installers trained and certified by Audiotec Fischer

Our installation actually changed the system on many levels. The car’s bass EQ no longer has to be cranked up as high, which allows the speakers to play louder without distortion (an issue the customer was experiencing previously). The bass is still present thanks to the brand new 8” boot subwoofer.

We used rivet nuts in existing holes in the dashboard’s frame, as well as a custom bracket (designed to suit the holes’ location) to firmly mount the amplifier. Not only did this mean we didn’t have to drill into the car at all, it allowed us to keep the amp close to the fuse box and hidden in the dashboard space (unlike more traditional amplifier installations where they’re placed into the boot, taking up valuable space).

The other bonus of this type of car audio package is that the car is now ready for a complete BMW stereo upgrade sometime in the future! All the customer needs to do is bring it back and let our expert team do the rest.

We finished by tuning the system to ensure that the best possible sound experience was produced. Depending on the customer’s specifications and the system installed, this can take up to 3 hours to ensure that it hits the spot.

Whilst we would generally recommend a further speaker enhancement, this stage-1 upgrade to the BMW’s sound system has actually seen some great improvement.

Why Plug and Play?

Here at Soundtech, we deal exclusively with Plug and Play connections. This means that the car’s original sound system is not altered in any way – all new components are connected up using a series of plugs and adaptors.

This enables us to return any vehicle we work on to its factory setup with 0 traces of the BMW X2 stereo upgrade left behind. Say the customer wants to sell their BMW X2 F39; they’ll be able to sell it without its upgraded sound system should they want to hang onto it.

In the case of this particular vehicle, Plug and Play connections also ensure that a more complex BMW stereo upgrade can be more easily undertaken further down the line.

Compatibility:

This setup is suitable for all BMW models featuring the basic sound system, manufactured up to the year 2020. For more information on compatibility with your specific car, please get in touch with our expert team and we’ll do the rest.
