BMW 2 Series F22 | Harman/Kardon Sound System Upgrade with More Bass
Model: BMW M235i F22 2015 with Harman/Kardon sound system
In most BMW 1 and 2 series (till 2019), the Harman/Kardon sound system is actually built on the base of the medium-range sound system BMW S0676 HiFi. It’s the BMW system that’s the easiest to upgrade.
For this purpose, we use a solution that has been developed and produced in Germany by Audiotec Fischer, the world’s leading car-audio manufacturer.
The BMW’s original stereo system included:
- BMW Harman Kardon sound system factory amplifier,
- 3-way splits in the front:
- 1″ tweeter
- 4″ mid-range
- 8″ under-seat woofer
2-way splits in the rear:
Mediocre sound quality, not enough bass, low volume output
This was a quick and efficient upgrade to address the most important aspect for the client; to capture more bass and improve the sound precision.
The new car stereo system installed by Soundtech included:
- MATCH UP 7BMW – PnP DSP amplifier
- STEG BM8 – Drop-in underseat subwoofers
First, we replaced the factory amplifier for the MATCH UP 7BMW that fits perfectly in the factory moulding. The matching BMW harness comes with the amplifier too. The UP 7 is one of the world’s finest devices made for BMW car audio systems. It powers all the channels and each can be adjusted individually.
Second, we replaced the underseat subwoofers with the aftermarket 8″ woofers STEG. STEG is a high-quality Italian brand that makes great components, very well built and well tuned too. The subs are much more powerful and with a better dynamic range than the original subs.
Both parts we used have been made to fit BMWs so there was no need for any modifications other than undoing a few bolts and putting them all back.
Calvin, a massive Hard-style enthusiast, came to us and said “All that I have been offered so far was an audio upgrade tuned for Rock or Jazz music. But I listen to none of those”.
We thought, why should he be listening to the system tuned for a totally different type of music?
Hence, after upgrading the gear, we spent another hour in the car sitting next to him custom-tuning the sound that would reproduce the electronic beats as they were meant to be heard.
This setup is suitable for most H/K systems of BMW series 1 and 2 as well as all the rest of BMW models with the 676 HiFi system, all up to the year 2020. Please contact us to check the compatibility with your vehicle.
Dynamic sound, clear tones and a great bass frequency response.
The stage has been precisely tuned up with the sound image oriented for the driver’s seat. That way it’s a much more enjoyable experience to drive the car around.
Installation time: 1/2 day. Please feel free to subscribe to our Youtube channel (Soundtech) for more content.
